Worry is a common part of life, yet Jesus lived without it. He faced storms, rejection, betrayal, and even death without succumbing to anxiety.

What did Jesus know that allowed Him to live this way?

This study will explore the foundational truths Jesus lived by that freed Him from worry, and how we can apply these truths in our own lives.

1. Jesus Knew Who He Was

Scripture: John 10:30 - “I and the Father are one.”

• Jesus was confident in His identity as the Son of God. He understood that His worth, purpose, and destiny were secure in the Father’s will. This assurance gave Him peace, even when others questioned or opposed Him.

• How can understanding our identity as children of God (Romans 8:16-17) help us overcome worry?

2. Jesus Knew Who God Is

Scripture: Matthew 6:26 - “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

• Jesus trusted in the goodness, faithfulness, and provision of the Father. He knew that God is in control and that His character never changes.

• Write down five attributes of God that bring you peace during difficult times.

3. Jesus Knew the Power of Prayer

Scripture: Luke 5:16 - “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”

• Prayer was Jesus’ lifeline to the Father. Through prayer, He aligned His heart with God’s will and received the strength to face any challenge.

• Commit to a daily prayer time this week to surrender your worries to God.

4. Jesus Knew the Big Picture

•   Scripture: John 16:33 - “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

• Jesus understood that earthly trials were temporary and that God’s eternal plan would prevail. This eternal perspective gave Him peace in the midst of suffering.

• How does focusing on eternity change the way we view our current challenges?

5. Jesus Knew God’s Timing Is Perfect

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:1 - “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

• Jesus trusted God’s timing, whether it was waiting to begin His ministry (John 2:4) or facing the cross (John 12:23). This trust freed Him from rushing or worrying about outcomes.

• What areas of your life do you need to surrender to God’s perfect timing?

6. Jesus Knew the Power of God’s Word

Scripture: Matthew 4:4 - “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

• Jesus leaned on Scripture to combat temptation, fear, and uncertainty. He knew that God’s Word was a source of truth and strength.

• Memorize one Bible verse this week that reminds you of God’s provision and peace.

Jesus lived free from worry because He trusted the Father completely, knew His identity and purpose, and focused on eternal truths rather than earthly circumstances.

By following His example and grounding ourselves in these same truths, we can experience the peace of God that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” - 1 Peter 5:7

Father, thank You for revealing to us the truths that allowed Jesus to live without worry. Help us to trust You fully, lean on Your Word, and focus on Your eternal plan. May we walk in the peace that only You can provide. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
