What we can GIVE and GIVE UP

Blessings to all on this beautiful Ash Wednesday, and a reminder of the goodness of CHRIST when He suffered and scraficed for our sins. That dreadful yet glorious day, when He walked (crawled) to the place of His crucifixion, carrying His own cross, and what He GAVE and GAVE UP on that day.

On that day, CHRIST GAVE UP His power, His majesty, His dignity, and He suffered great sorrow, great despair, and great agony on our behalf.

On that glorious day, CHRIST held in His hand, the ledger that contained all of the sins of this world. All of OUR sins. Our unpayable debts… and He nailed that ledger to the cross.  In His own blood, He wrote these factual and final words across that ledger… “CANCELLED” and “PAID-IN-FULL”. On that day, all of our debts were forgiven, and forever blotted out.

On that glorious day, CHRIST GAVE us forgiveness. He GAVE us freedom from the consequences of our sins. He GAVE us the power to NOT sin. He GAVE us hope, and a future. He GAVE us daily grace. He GAVE us eternal salvation.

So in this season of LENT, I want to encourage you to consider both what you can GIVE UP… alcohol, sweets, anger, fear, doubt, SIN; and what you can GIVE… charity, LOVE, time, talents, FORGIVENESS, and GRACE.
